The Currach Siege

My dog rolls in the fresh wood chip that blankets the shed floor, after retreating from the noise of the planer that is being used to finish 21 oars. He was the bell of the ball yesterday howlin' and hootin' as if the visitors had come especially to see him. It had been two years since our friends from Tanzania had called and as usual they were keen to help out where ever possible. By the time they had to go two currach frames were painted rusty red, pushing the project another day closer to completion.Next weekend Holger returns and the boats will receive their bullet proof jackets, I can only hope the dog won't become a black Labrador by the end of it all, considering he has already been green, red and speckled white........

Movement is relative. In a nature/human powered boat, crawling is pretty good. A couple of years ago I spent a week of camp-sailing in an 8 foot long boat, and 4 knots was FAST! :-)
