Boyne Currach Centre........

PictureTraditional Boyne Currach
Located in the world heritage site of Brú na Boinne, on the banks of the river Boyne, overlooking the tomb of Newgrange, we facilitate educational programmes based on both the tangible and intangible aspect of our heritage.

From weekly work groups focusing on various boat building projects and exploring skills of the past, to conversational workshops associated with Boyne Currach making and woodcarving with emphasis on the spoken Irish language. We also have regular music/ song sessions for both young and old.

With more and more of an emphasis on Europe, this is the perfect opportunity to rediscover our relationship with Europe, while maintaining and encouraging pride and confidence in our own identity which is held within our intangible culture.

By recreating our Neolithic past, using only tools and methods that were available to them 5,000 years ago, we aim to heighten our senses that illustrate for us, our own unique culture and heritage.

By fusing both tangible and intangible we aim to promote our cultural heritage
in its entirety, providing the complete cultural experience.
